Mission, Vision and Beliefs

ACHIEVE’s mission is to provide exceptional training and resources to better lives. We believe access to knowledge and skill development changes individual lives, communities, and organizations; and we believe that people should be able to like where they work. we envision a future where everyone has access to high quality leadership and workplace development resources. We aspire to be the most trusted, accessible, and widely known provider of these resources.

While what follows is not exhaustive nor in any particular order, these are the core assumptions and beliefs that guide our approach to the development of our materials:

With Regard to Leadership Development
We value collaborative leadership approaches as we believe that people and teams perform best when leaders work with them as opposed to over them. In our view, management and leadership are distinct yet related functions.  We believe that leadership is about eliciting the best from people and involves providing example and vision. Management is about directing the business activities of an organization in accordance with its objectives. We believe that leadership and management skills are learned through hard work, practice and self-reflection.

With Regard to Conflict and Communication
We believe that conflict is natural and inevitable and that our responses and strategies for dealing with conflict matter. In our view, the successful resolution of conflict involves shifting away from a competitive, win/lose mindset to a cooperative, collaborative mindset. We believe that when people communicate and listen well, focusing on each other’s interests and respecting differences, they can resolve conflict in healthy and productive ways.

With Regard to Workplace Performance
We believe that optimal workplace performance is dependent on people developing interpersonal skills as well as the traditionally-defined workplace skills. In our view, most people can learn to succeed in the workplace through training and development within a supportive, development-based work environment. Therefore, our workplace performance workshops are designed to address the work environment as well as the interpersonal skills necessary to thrive at work.

Best Practices and Promising Practices
We recognize that strategies for leadership, conflict resolution, and workplace performance are constantly evolving as collective learning and academic research both advance. Our training materials integrate the best current writing and research relevant to every topic with the collective wisdom of our experienced consultants and trainers. We also give special consideration to the specific needs of the communities in which we present. Our training materials need to be flexible and applicable to a wide range of potential clients and participants

Sensitivity to Cultures and Identities
We honor the diversity of identities, beliefs, values and practices of our constituents. Organizations and individuals are healthier and perform better when efforts are made to increase awareness and respect for the uniqueness of each person, including their ethnicity, nationality, spirituality, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, ability level, immigration status and socio-economic status.
